Short ABC Trek is a 7-day moderate-level hiking from Pokhara to Annapurna Base Camp. The hiking commences and terminates at Matkyu (1500 m), Ghandruk village Kaski. The short trek explores a natural hot spring, river valley, the world's tenth-highest Annapurna massif (8091 m), Hiunchuli (6441 m), Annapurna South (7219 m), and Mt. Fishtail (6993 m), identified Nepalese Matterhorn. Annapurna base camp at 4130 meters offers views of numerous exquisite snow-clad peaks with sunrise on a clear day.
Short ABC Trekking is worth visiting Gurung village's unique lifestyle and remarkable hospitality. While driving from Pokhara to Matkyu, trekking permits are checked at the Birethanti post. The short trekking lies in the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (1986). Participants experience unforgettable landscapes, Himalayas view, terraced fields, specific flora and fauna, the lifestyle of mountain people, Modi River valley, food habits, and Gurung dress. The journeys uphill and downhill trails traverse the Modi River valley with a wild beehive and traditional flour mill. Trekkers interact with the Gurung people's culture, education and crops. Most of the trekking goes through the lap of green hills.
Short Annapurna Base Camp Trekking extends Pokhara sightseeing, Trishuli rafting and Chitwan jungle safari. This short trek offers majestic views of Annapurna massif (8091 m), Fishtail, Hiunchuli, Chomrong (2070 m) village, and the natural hot spring in Jhinu Danda. Day 01: Pokhara to Chomrong (2050 m) - 7/8 hours
Day 02: Chomrong to Dovan (2605 m) - 5/6 hours
Day 03: Dovan to Deurali (3300 m) - 5/6 hours
Day 04: Deurali to ABC (4130 m) - 5/6 hours
Day 05: ABC and to Dovan (2605 m) - 5/6 hours
Day 06: Dovan to Jhinu Danda (1725 m) - 6/7 hours
Day 07: Jhinu Danda to Pokhara (830 m) - 6/7 hours
Day 01: Pokhara to Chomrong (2050 m) - 7/8 hours
We drive by private Jeep from Pokhara to Matkyu (1500 m) in 3/4 hours with mountain, village, river, and terraced fields view. The first hike goes from Matkyu to Jhinu Danda (1725 m), which takes 1:20 hours. Jhinu Danda to Chomrong reaches in 2:30 hours. The Gurung village offers beautiful views of Annapurna and Fishtail. There are fourteen lodges with an electricity line.
Day 02: Chomrong to Dovan (2605 m) - 5/6 hours
Chomrong to Dovan has a beautiful trail with long stone steps, uphill, forest, bridge, village, and mountain views. Sinuwa (2324 m) is 2 hours away, Bamboo is 1:45 hours away, and Dovan is 1:10 hours away.
Day 03: Dovan to Deurali (3300 m) - 5/6 hours
The hike from Dovan to Himalaya (2880 m) reached 2:25 hours along with the Modi Khola valley. Himalaya to Deurali (3300 m) with an uphill path takes 1:20 hours hiking with a view of a waterfall and Modi Valley.
Day 04: Deurali to ABC (4130 m) - 5/6 hours
The hike goes from Deurali to Machhapuchhre Base Camp in 1:40 hours. Machhapuchhre to Annapurna Base Camp takes 2 hours of hiking with the massif Annapurna (8091 m) view. Stay overnight at base camp for the next morning's sunrise with a mountain view.
Day 05: ABC and to Dovan (2605 m) - 5/6 hours
Hike from ABC to Dovan via MBC, Deurali, and Himalaya Hotel takes six hours. This track is downhill along Modi Khola valley with forest.
Day 06: Dovan to Jhinu Danda (1725 m) - 6/7 hours
Hike from Dovan to Bamboo, Khuldighar, Sinuwa, Chomrong, and Jhinu Danda takes 6 hours. There is a hot spring on the bank of the Modi River near Jhinu Danda (25 minutes).
Day 07: Jhinu Danda to Pokhara (830 m) - 6/7 hours
We hike an hour to Matkyu. We catch a bus or hire a jeep to Pokhara, which takes 3/4 hours. Stay overnight in Pokhara.
