Dhaulagiri Round Trek

Dhaulagiri Round Trek is an adventure journey with the high pass to glimpse breathtaking 7th highest Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167 m), 10th highest Mt. Annapurna I (8091 m) view in Central Himalayan region Nepal. The hiking begins at Kali Gandaki Riverbank, Beni after, 10 hours bus trip from Kathmandu. Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek crosses the high passes, French Pass (5360 m) and Dhampus Pass (5155 m) with the delightful Hidden valley. The remaining parts of smashed Swiss Pilatus Porter in 1961, which can observe near French Pass with a sister peak of Dhaulagiri. There are a cliff and icy path near Dhaulagiri Base Camp. The winter temperature remains - 18° Celsius. Snow leopard and blue sheep recorded in the Hidden Valley. 

Dhaulagiri Round Trek offers a delightful view at Dhampus Pass towards Tilicho Peak, Nilgiri, Annapurna, Tukuche and Dhaulagiri range. The world's deepest Kali Gandaki Gorge started between Mt. Annapurna I (8091m) and Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m) with a 35 km distance. You will meet the yak shed. Afterwards, at Dhampus Pass (5155 m), you will reach Marpha village with the Annapurna circuit trail. Trekkers end the trek either Jomsom or Nayapul. A professional guide, porter and trekker required previous knowledge to join the Dhaulagiri circuit trekking. Additional information is below.

Day 19: Departure to Tribhuvan International Airport

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu Airport
When the flight arrives at Tribhuvan International Airport, take the 6 km car ride with our guide for 25 minutes to the hotel. Check-in hotel and guide will brief the programs. Stay overnight at the hotel with breakfast in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Full day sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley
Professional Tour Guide comes to pick you up at the hotel door at 9 am. The guide explains about Nepal. The UNESCO world heritage site Swayambhunath (1st century) is fascinating with an activity of the Assamese monkey and the panoramic view of Kathmandu Valley and the Himalayas. Kathmandu Durbar Square (12th to 18th century) is impressive with the royal palace square, museums, Kasthamandap, the Living Goddess Kumari, Freak Street, wood carving and architecture of the temple. Pashupatinath (5th century) is famous for the cremation ghat, Pashupatinath Temple, the shrines with Shiva Lingam and Yoni, the Hindu holy men (Sadhus) and an activity of the Assamese monkey and deer in the sub-tropical forest. Boudhanath (5th century) is the biggest Stupa of Nepal with the Tibetan refugee settlement, painting school, prayer wheels, prayer flags and other numerous monasteries with the monk and lama.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Beni (830 m) - 10 hours
It is about 285 km (177miles) distance from Kathmandu to Beni. On the way, the view of snow-capped mountains, including Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. You will meet the Trishuli, Marsyangdi, Seti and Kali Gandaki River Valley with the highway towns and Pokhara. A private vehicle takes 10 hours to Beni as the headquarters of Myagdi district with the hotel, lodge and shop. Mixed community people live here. Stay overnight at a camp in Beni.

Day 04: Beni to Babiyachaur (980 m) - 5/6 hours
The trail goes along with the bank of the Myagdi Khola, cross a bridge. We pass several villages before Tatopani (hot spring) near a town. We cross suspension bridges to Simalchaur (945 m), we walk to continue the left bank of Myagdi Khola to Babiyachaur. Stay overnight at camp in Babiyachaur.

Day 05: Babiyachaur to Dharapani (1560 m) - 5/6 hours
The trail goes with a wide gravelled road to Darbang (1070 m). The hikes continue to a village, bridge, rice terraces with the narrow path then cross another bridge. We climb uphill with a forest of rhododendron, oak and pine to the ridge and a village. We continue the straight trail to Dharapani as a large village with a beautiful house pattern with thatched and tin roofs. Stay overnight at camp in the Dharapani.

Day 06: Dharapani to Muri (1850 m) - 5/6 hours
Climb downhill to the Sibang and Mattim village, cross a suspension bridge over the river. Climb gradually uphill with the village forest and terrace field to the ridge. The hike continues the Muri village with Magar people with a view of Dhaulagiri (8167 m), Gurja Himal. Stay overnight at camp in the Muri

Day 07: Muri to Boghara (2080 m) - 5/6 hours
We climb downhill to a rocky stream, Dhora Khola, terraced fields. We cross a river, walk uphill to the Ghorban Dhara. The view of Ghustung South (6465 m) can observe from the pass. We continue the Naura village, then climb a few steep uphills. We walk along the Myagdi Khola valleys ascends descends with zigzag stone steps. We descend to a forest, terraced fields before the Boghara village. Stay overnight at camp in the Boghara.

Day 08: Boghara to Dobang (2550 m) - 5/6 hours
Today we have a difficult trail, descending through the terraced fields to a ridge. We walk through a forest to Jyardan village. The trail climbs uphill through the windy and rocky valley before a descend. We climb uphill at the end to Lipshe with a single hut. We hike continues with a forest to Lapche Kharka (Goth), climb uphill to Dobang. Stay overnight here at a camp.

Day 09: Dobang to Italian Base Camp (3660 m) - 6/7 hours
We hike to cross a wooden bridge, climb uphill through a forest of pine, rhododendron and bamboo. We cross the Myagdi Khola continue a stream to Choriban Khola. We walk through a terminal moraine of the Chhonbarban Glacier with views of Tukuche peak (6837 m), massif north face of Dhaulagiri. We continue to the Italian Base camp with a view of Dhaulagiri II, III, and V to the west. Stay overnight at a camp in Italian Base Camp.

Day 10: Rest day at Italian Base Camp (3660 m)
Make your rest day pleasant with the practice of climbing high sleep low for fitness. Acclimatize your body for a comfortable trip. Stay overnight at a camp here.

Day 11: Italian Base Camp to Glacier Camp (4940 m) - 4/5 hours
Hiking with a difficult path is on the glacier. Cross the first glacier with rope if necessary, then continue to the main glacier area. Enjoy the superb view of snow-capped mountain peaks surrounding here. Stay overnight at a camp there.

Day 12: Glacier Camp to Dhaulagiri Base Camp (4750 m) - 4/5 hours
We walk a rough mountain trail over the glacier. The walk continues to Dhaulagiri Base Camp. The north face of Dhaulagiri is superb. Stay overnight at a camp in Dhaulagiri Base Camp.

Day 13: Dhaulagiri Base Camp to Hidden Valley (5010 m) - 4/5 hours
We climb uphill through the glacier trail by using a rope if necessary. We hike a steep moraine to the French Pass (5240 m). It is a glaciated pass with a view of the Hidden Valley. We descend to the Hidden Valley with the blue sheep and snow leopard recorded here. The night temperature will be 18° Celsius in October. Stay overnight at a camp in the Hidden Valley.

Day 14: Hidden Valley to Yak Kharka (3960 m) - 6/7 hours
We walk to Dhampus pass (5155 m) and steeply descends to a Yak Kharka (Yak pasture). People of the Mustang keep the summer settlement for yak. The views of Tilicho Peak, Kali Gandaki valley, Nilgiri, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Tukuche Peak are gorgeous here.

Day 15: Yak Kharka to Marpha (2670 m) - 4/5 hours
We climb downhill steeply with a steep desert-like trail at the beginning. We arrive at the lower part with a Christmas tree. The view of Marpha village is beautiful. We descend Marpha village with an apple garden, a monastery with the Thakali people.

Day 16: Marpha to Jomsom (2710 m)
The walk continues along with the bank of Kali Gandaki. This windy valley is exciting on the Annapurna circuit. We cross a few bridges towards Jomsom with a hotel, airport, army post, and police post. Jomsom is the district headquarters of Mustang district. Reconfirm your flight ticket to Pokhara. Stay overnight at a camp in Jomsom.

Day 17: Jomsom to Pokhara (827 m) - 20 minutes
Take an early morning flight to Pokhara with the views of Kali Gandaki River valley, Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Ghorepani, Sarangkot, Phewa Lake with the World Peace Stupa and Pokhara valley. Stay overnight at a hotel in Pokhara.

Day 18: Pokhara to Kathmandu 1350m - 7 hours by bus
Kathmandu is 204 km east of Pokhara that takes 7 hours bus tours. During the bus trip between Pokhara to Kathmandu has exciting views of a snow-capped mountain, Marsyangdi River Valley, cable car station, Trishuli River Valley highway town, terraced field, village, domestic animal and forest-clad hill. The distance from Pokhara to Gunadi is 45 km, Gunadi to Malekhu is 87 km, Malekhu to Kathmandu is 72 km. Take a taxi to the hotel about a kilometre. Stay overnight at the hotel with breakfast in Kathmandu.

Day 19: Departure to Tribhuvan International Airport
The airport is 6 km away, which takes 25 minutes, requires 3 hours before a flight departure. We wish you a safe and happy flight
