Island Peak Climb

Island Peak Climb, situated in the northeastern Himalayas in the Everest Region near Chhukung (4710 m), is a mountain with an island-like shape and a snowy peak at 6189 meters. The final 100-meter ice climb is more challenging than the relatively easy ascent, which takes approximately 17 days of hiking. From the summit, one can enjoy breathtaking views of Nuptse (7879 m), Lhotse (8501 m), Lhotse Shar (8383 m) in the north, Makalu (8463 m) in the east, and Baruntse and Amadablem in the south.

Island Peak climb is an intriguing adventure that combines trekking to Everest Base Camp with a 30-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. The trek continues through Namche Bazaar (3441 m), Tengboche (3860 m), and Dingboche (4350 m). Dingboche is the trail junction for Everest Base Camp and Island Base Camp (5240 m). The trek to Kalapathar (5545 m) provides acclimatization support for fitness. From Dingboche, it takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes to reach Chhukung (4710 m) and another 3 hours to reach Imja Tse. This trekking peak presents a technical challenge.

Island Peak Climb is a popular choice, with the best time to undertake it is from March to May and October to November. Along the journey, one can immerse oneself in the Sherpa settlement, experience their culture and lifestyle, witness the wildlife in Sagarmatha National Park, visit monasteries and museums, and enjoy the magnificent views of Everest.
