Shuklaphanta jungle safari is an exciting tour from 90 m to 270 meters in the Kanchanpur district in southwestern lowland Terai. The Royal Hunting Reserve (1969) and wildlife reserve (1976) set Suklaphanta National Park (2017) covers 305 Sq Km of land. The bus leaves from Kathmandu to Mahendranagar (695 km), later short driving (8 km) to reach the park headquarters, Majhgaon. Another option, fly from Kathmandu to Dhangadi (1:00 hour), then ride a 60 km road trip to Mahendranagar and an 8 km road to Majhgaon. People come from Banbasa (India), the nearest border near Mahendranagar, and then drive to Majhgaon. Annual visitors recorded 4714.
Shuklaphanta jungle safari offers to visit the home of 424 species of birds (180 breeding species), including the Sarus Crane, flycatcher, egrets, strokes, eagle, herons, grass owls, warblers, Swamp Francolin, Bengal florican and peacocks. There is 21 species of fish, such as Mahseer, Tenger, Rohu, ten species of ectoparasites and biting flies. The national park boasts python, cobra, marsh mugger crocodile, gharial crocodile, barking deer, wild elephant (50), Royal Bengal Tiger (36), swamp deer (2301), wild boar, jackal, leopard, monkey, and one-horned rhinoceros (8). The dense forest covers grassland, Sal, Khaer, and Sissau trees. The Nanda Devi Himal (7817 m) can view to the north on a clear day.
Shuklaphanta jungle safari arranged an elephant ride to explore various animals and plants. Tourists visit the Singphal Temple (Shiva Temple), river, wetland, lake, pond, stream and Machan (view tower) to experience the wildlife. Tharu people are an indigenous group with a unique culture, lifestyle close to the park. Suklaphanta translates from the white grassland that blooms in winter. Locals use Heteropogon contortus and Imperata Cylindrica grass (Cogon grass) for thatch roofs. There are tourist-standard jungle lodges for overnight lodging and food.
